data-edge-logoAs part of the Master of Information and Data Science 2015 spring immersion, students attended the fourth annual DataEDGE conference, sponsored by the I School at UC Berkeley. DataEDGE brings together senior industry and academic leaders for a conversation about the challenges and opportunities created by the rise of big data. At this year’s conference, speakers discussed everything from Making Data Meaningful for 21st Century Government (Jennifer Pahlka, Code for America) to Privacy in the Age of Connected Cars (Rob Ferguson, Automatic).

Throughout the event students as well as the local community were engaged in discussions and the various panels. Topics provided opportunity to ask questions and network with their fellow data enthusiasts. Students expressed excitement over meeting for the first time. The conference provided context to connect with each other and to partake in an event that featured renowned speakers like Ari Gesher of Palantir Technologies, Michael Chui of McKinsey Global Institute, and Monica Rogati of Jawbone.
